Learning objectives
By the end of this lesson you will be able to:
- Describe what owners, admins and staff can do.
- Invite teammates safely.
- Explain the boundary between businesses.
Roles in a business
- Owner: full control, and the only role that can invite an admin.
- Admin: can change records, reply to customers and approve suggestions.
- Staff: can see the business’s records and take a conversation for themselves; changing records, replying to customers and approving suggestions need an owner or admin.
Inviting people
- Invite from Settings, then Team, by email and role.
- An invitation works once and expires after 7 days.
- Team size depends on your plan, and invitations respect that limit.
- Remove people who leave, and review the team list regularly.
The boundary between businesses
Every request is checked against the business it belongs to before any data is returned. Members of one business cannot see another business’s records, and the customer assistant only searches the catalog of the business it is installed for.
Illustrative example · fictional data
Choosing roles for a small team
A made-up four-person shop.
- The founder is the owner.
- The operations lead, who approves follow-ups and fixes the catalog, is an admin.
- Two part-time assistants who watch the inbox and take conversations are staff; an admin replies to customers.
- When one assistant leaves, the owner removes them the same day.
Practical exercise · planning
Draft your access plan
- List everyone who will use Anchor.
- For each person, write what they need to do and the lowest role that allows it.
- Write when you will review the team list (for example, every quarter).
Recap
- Owner, admin and staff have different powers; staff cannot change records or approve.
- Invitations are single-use, expire after 7 days and respect plan limits.
- Each business’s data is separated on every request.
Knowledge check
Three questions. Choose an answer, check it and read the explanation; you can try again as often as you like.
Your answers are not saved or sent anywhere.
