What is an AI assistant for business?

A plain explanation of business AI assistants, what they can do, and where a person should stay in charge.

The short answer

An AI assistant for business is software that understands questions written in ordinary language and answers or acts on them using your business’s own information: your products, prices, stock, orders and policies.

The useful ones are not general chatbots. They look up facts in your data first and answer from those facts, and they hand over to a person when they are not sure.

What Anchor does about it

Both answer from your catalog and orders, say so when they do not know, and never take a real-world action such as sending a message without your approval.

Limits to know

  • An assistant is only as good as the data behind it. Missing prices or stock produce “I don’t know” or a hand-off, not guesses.
  • It does not replace your judgment on prices, refunds or sensitive situations.

Common questions

Can an AI assistant answer without my data?
It can produce fluent text, but not reliable facts about your business. Anchor answers business facts only from your catalog and orders.
Will it make things up?
Grounding reduces wrong answers but cannot remove them completely. Test it with your own questions before customers use it.
